Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 8, 2026

The short version

Sokira is a calm, voice-first companion that helps you start and follow through on what matters. We collect only what we need to make that work, we never sell your information, and your private conversations stay yours. Family sharing is completely optional and off by default. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian has to okay your use first. Here are the details.

Who we are

Sokira is provided by Sokira, LLC ("Sokira," "we," "us"). You can reach us about privacy at privacy@sokira.app.

Information we collect

Account information. When you sign in with Apple, we receive a unique Apple identifier and, if you choose to share them, your name and email address. We use these to create and secure your account.

Your age. During setup we ask for your birth month and year. We use this to confirm you're old enough to use Sokira and to determine whether parental consent is required. We do not ask for a full date of birth.

Your preferences and tasks. The information you set up and create in the app; the companion you choose, your life stage and what you're navigating, your daily-rhythm settings, and the tasks and steps you add.

Conversation content. When you talk or type with your companion, your words are turned into text so the app can respond. Speech is converted to text on your device. The resulting text is sent to our AI provider to generate a reply. Your conversations are processed only to generate a reply. They are kept on your device and are not stored on our servers.

Parental-consent information (for users under 18). A parent or guardian's email address, which we use only to send a one-time verification link and record whether consent was given. We store a record that consent is pending, verified, or expired. The verification link itself is never stored in our database.

Subscription status. Whether you have an active trial or subscription, provided to us by Apple and our subscription manager. We never see or store your payment-card details and Apple handles all billing.

Limited technical information. Basic information needed to operate and secure the app and diagnose problems.

How we use your information

  • To provide the companion and its responses
  • To confirm eligibility and obtain parental consent where required
  • To save your preferences, tasks, and settings across sessions
  • To manage your trial and subscription
  • To keep the service secure and fix problems
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Voice and AI

Your speech is transcribed on your device. To generate a response, the text of what you said is sent to our AI provider. Sokira processes sensitive topics with care; we do not use your conversations for advertising. (When spoken-response playback is enabled, the text of a reply may also be sent to a voice provider to generate audio.)

Before your first conversation, the app asks for your permission to share this information with these providers. Anthropic and Hume AI process it only to provide their service to Sokira and are required to protect it consistent with this policy. Neither provider is permitted to use your conversations to train their models.

Service providers we share information with

We share limited information with vendors who help us run Sokira, under contracts that limit their use of it:

  • Apple: sign-in and billing
  • Supabase: secure database and authentication hosting
  • Anthropic: AI that generates companion responses
  • Hume AI: the service that generates the spoken audio of your companion's replies. To create the voice, the text of the companion's reply is sent to Hume AI. Replies can reference things you said.
  • Resend: sends the parental-consent verification email (from noreply@sokira.app)
  • Our subscription manager (RevenueCat): tracks trial/subscription status
  • A voice provider, when spoken playback is enabled

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of a person or the public.

Children and teens

Sokira is intended for people 13 and older. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If we learn what we have, we will delete it.

If you are 13–17, you may only use Sokira after a parent or guardian gives consent. We collect the parent/guardian email to send a one-time verification link. Your parents do not get access to your account, your conversations, or your tasks: consent verification and your personal data are kept separate, and our security rules prevent anyone but you from reading your information.

Family sharing

Sokira offers an optional family feature. You can connect with up to three other people and choose, for yourself, whether to share specific tasks or completed-task celebrations with them. Sharing is off by default and is set per category. You decide what to share, and you can stop at any time without anyone else's approval. Other family members never see your conversations, your private tasks, your mood, or how much you have completed. If you are 13 to 17, you can only join a family after your parent or guardian confirms by email, and you, not your parent, control what is shared.

How long we keep information and how to delete it

We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app; deleting it removes your profile and associated records. Pending consent records expire automatically.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, California or the EU/UK), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your information, and to object to certain processing. To make a request, contact privacy@sokira.app. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Security

We protect your information with measures including encryption in transit, strict per-user access rules so only you can read your own data, and one-way hashing of consent tokens. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information.

Sokira is not a medical or crisis service

Sokira is a supportive companion, not a healthcare provider, and it does not diagnose or treat any condition. See the Terms of Service for details. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line in your area.

Changes

We may update this policy. If we make material changes, we'll let you know in the app or by email. The "Effective date" above shows the latest version.
